Danill Kvyat Joins Lamborghini for WEC, IMSA Drive

Kvyat, Lamborghini team up for future LMDh project.

Former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat has been signed to Lamborghini's future LMDh project which is set to contest both the WEC and IMSA schedules in 2024. Kvyat, who raced for six full seasons in Formula 1 for Red Bull and Scuderia AlphaTauri, will be heavily involved in the testing and development of the unnamed Lamborghini LMDh car. For the current WEC season, Kvyat will continue to race for Prema in the LMP2 class. Iron Lynx is set to campaign the LMDh Lamborgini entry in both WEC and IMSA next season. Rollout for the new car is set to take place of the summer months.

“Lamborghini is a very well-known Italian brand with a great history in the automotive world and, having grown up in Italy, this is an additional source of pride for me," Kvyat stated.

“We hope to achieve many goals together, I thank you for your trust in me and I look forward to starting work on the LMDh project later this year.”

Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini's head of motorsport, stated, "As a group, we are very excited to welcome Daniil to Lamborghini and believe he will be a strong asset to our LMDh project over the course of the 2023 season. Daniil’s main role with us will be working closely with our engineers and mechanics on the prototype car which will debut next year and given his vast experience in other racing categories, I have no doubt that he will play a crucial part in us hitting the ground running in 2024.”

While Lamborghini has yet to announce driver lineups for their WEC and IMSA entries, Lamborghini have already signed Mirko Bortolotti , Andrea Caldarelli and Romain Grosjean to their future racing efforts. While Iron Lynx will contest a full season in WEC, their IMSA effort will primarily be focused on the final three Michelin Endurance Cup rounds at Sebring, Watkins Glen and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
