Due to financial problems at the 6hrs of Sao Paulo's promoter, the FIA and ACO have been forced to cancel the upcoming race at Interlagos.
The organisation stresses that this is in no way related to the city of Sao Paulo or the Autodromo José Carlos Pace, but solely an issue with the race promoter.
Instead, the 5th race of the season will now be held at the Circuit of the Americas. To avoid a clash with the 2020 NFL Superbowl, the race also has a new date: 23rd of February. One month later, the circus returns to the States for the 1000 miles of Sebring in March.
The last visit to CotA was back in 2017. In the 6 hour race Porsche claimed a 1-2 victory over Toyota. Signatech Alpine took the honours in LMP2, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi won the GT Pro class in the Ferrari 488 GTE, while Paul Dalla Lana, Pedro Lamy and Mattias Lauda were victorious in GT Am for Aston Martin.
