Gornall Replaces Butel For BTCC Finale
James Gornall will be replacing Jack Butel in one of the Team HARD. Racing CUPRA Leon's for the final race meeting of the British Touring Car Championship season at Brands Hatch GP.
Gornall first drove the CUPRA back in 2021 during the official Goodyear tyre test.
Whilst there has been no explanation as to why Butel is missing from the final round of this year's season, its most likely down to the budget of the team not allowing for him to compete.
Bobby Thompson has already had to sit out the middle section of the season and there is a new driver in the new chassis CUPRA's virtually every race meeting due to the budget restrictions of running six cars from the start of the season.
Gornall competed in the JCW MINI challenge in 2019, before completing a full season in the BTCC in 2020 with GKR TradePriceCars in an Audi S3 Saloon.
James expressed his excitement about returning to the BTCC with Team HARD. Racing: “I’m thrilled to be back in the BTCC and to be representing Team HARD. Racing once again. It’s an incredible opportunity, and I can’t wait to hit the track at Brands Hatch on the GP loop, I achieved my best finish in the BTCC on this layout. The team has been working tirelessly, and I’m confident that together, we can deliver a great performance for the fans and sponsors.”
