Ilott named as 2017 BRDC SuperStar
Cementing his position as one of Britain’s up and coming motorsport talents, Hertfordshire’s Callum Ilott has been selected to join the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) SuperStars driver development programme for 2017.
The SuperStars programme, now in its tenth year, has been instrumental in supporting over sixty drivers including Renault F1’s Jolyon Palmer, GT star Jonny Adam and British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan to acquire the multifaceted skills required of today’s professional driver.
SuperStars benefit from a range of activities to enhance their performance beyond pure driving talent. Workshops and training events focus on mental and physical improvement, communication, media and marketing skills, supporting drivers to deliver both on and off the track. Superstars also enjoy access to BRDC members for advice and guidance with experienced mentors on hand at any time.
“Last year I was part of the BRDC’s Rising Stars programme and it was really beneficial for developing my off-track skills as well as getting to know key people in the motorsport industry that you don’t always see at F3 race events,” says Ilott. “Moving up to SuperStars is a great recognition of the progress I made in 2016 and I’m appreciative of the BRDC’s decision to pick me.”
2017 will see Ilott will drive for PREMAPowerteam team in the FIA European F3 Championship, a team with an impeccable six consecutive titles in the category.
