Lawrence Tomlinson closes in on VdeV PFV class title.

Ginetta boss Lawrence Tomlinson took a big step towards the V de V PFV Class title at Magny Cours last weekend (8/9 October 2016) after securing his fourth race win of the season.

In the first practice session of the weekend, it was CWS Racing who set the bar with Colin White and Will Burns at the helm. The pair set the fastest time of the session, just ahead of Nova Race’s #75 Ginetta, driven by Varini, Konopka and Calko.

Third and fourth respectively were Simpson Motorsport’s final two cars - Robertson and Dirk de Jong (in car #50) and Sanders and Deguffroy (behind the wheel of car #52). In free practice two, the Ginetta G57 #57 entered by LNT/Simpson Motorsport flew to the top of the time sheets before going on to set the fastest time of all in qualifying. The polesitters – Tomlinson and Simpson – started the race alongside young duo Sanders and Deguffroy, in the #52 G57. Starting third was #59 – one of two G57s to be entered by Race Performance, this one with Jackson and Modell behind the wheel.

Tomlinson started the race at the wheel of the pole car and made a storming start. Due to his outstanding performance over the season thus far, Tomlinson had been upgraded to an ‘Elite’ driver by the V de V organisers, the same grading as his co-pilot, works driver Simpson. As a result, the duo had to make seven drive-through penalties in addition to their four compulsory pits stops.

Opting to get their drive throughs out of the way in the opening stint, Tomlinson handed over to Simpson with no more penalties to serve. Once Simpson took over, the Ginetta Factory Driver attacked hard and regained the race lead inside the last hour where he remained to the flag, taking a remarkable victory by over a lap.

Finishing in second place was the #52 car of Deguffroy / Sanders. Although the brought the fight to the leaders, in the end they settled for the runners up spot, which they claimed with a considerable advantage over the third placed Race Performance entry of Watt and Wilson.
