New FIA WEC App for 2016
The FIA World Endurance Championship’s App has received many plaudits for its range of entertaining and informative content, ease of use, and availability on multiple platforms. Now, for 2016, it has been upgraded further with a new design and features, better integration and new content so that fans of the best endurance racing in the world don’t have to miss a minute of the action.
We rely more and more heavily on small screen technology in our everyday lives, with many devices often being used simultaneously. Fans of the WEC can follow the World Championship in its entirety, no matter where in the world they are, and from 2016 they will profit from an all-new Home page with dedicated content which will match what’s happening on the timing screens; the chance to see replays of WEC action; new timing screens and displays and the opportunity to have Live Timing on rotation on iPhones; Chromecast integration; a new Exoplayer for Android devices.
Available for any device capable of running iPhone or Android applications, the FIA WEC second screen App can now be downloaded for free from the iTunes Store or the Google Store. This offers all news from the WEC, classifications, circuit information, team and driver information, highlights, basic live timing and much more.
To immerse yourself even further into the WEC experience, a Premium Season Pack is available on a race-by-race or full season basis as an In-App purchase. This latter package gives you access to all nine races in the 2016 season including the Le Mans 24 Hours, and all Premium Season purchases offer FULL LIVE coverage of each race as well as full data timing, exclusive content, on-board cameras, full race replays available on demand up to 3 weeks after the race and the possibility to personalise and follow your favourite drivers and/or teams. The cost of the full season pack equates to no more than about €3.50 per race.
Gérard Neveu, CEO of the WEC, commented: “Today the quality of the digital devices we use is vital, and we have therefore put a lot of focus on the quality of the App because, among other things, this device helps our fans to better understand our championship. We try to constantly innovate, and we are sure that fans will be very pleased with what they find on the new version of the App.”
Available in Arabic, English, French German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish, the FIAWEC App is just for iOS and Android devices, and not for desktops, but fans can follow the race on www.fiawec.com which will have the same level of information as in 2015. Apple TV will also allow you to replicate your iPad or iPhone screen so you can watch it on a larger screen.
